Short Bio

Cihan Topal received the B.Sc. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Anadolu University,
Eskisehir, Turkey in 2005 and joined the faculty as a research assistant in the same department. He
received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in dept. of computer engineering in 2008 and 2014, respectively.
Prior to his PhD studies he worked as an intern at Real-time Vision and Modeling Department, Siemens
Corporate Research, Princeton, NJ, USA in 2008.
 
In 2014, he founded Visea, a tech start-up company which develops computer vision hardware and
software with the scientific and technical know-how acquired by ongoing research activities. Visea
primarily focuses on applications of machine vision, augmented reality and eye tracking technologies
among many others. In 2016, he earned a scholarship from Newton Fund to attend Leaders in Innovation
Fellowships (LIF), which is an entrepreneurship and tech commercialization program run by Royal Academy of Engineering in London.
 
He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in
Anadolu University. His research interests are in the area of computer vision, pattern recognition,
image processing and human-computer interaction.
